From an Instagram Post to a Full Rebrand—Telling Paul Carrick Brunson the Story Behind the New FLIGHTSTORY.

A few months ago, Paul C. Brunson posted about Flight Story and said, “This place handles like Def Jam.”

That stuck with Penny Watson and I.Def Jam isn’t just a label—it’s a cultural force. A brand that made noise, shaped an era, and stood the test of time. That idea sparked something. We aren't just a podcast studio, or just an investment fund, we handle like a record label. Our talent/founders are our artists and their product/media is their music.

Fast forward to last week. I got to sit down with Paul and show him the full rebrand. The album covers. The new website. The visuals that all started with his words. And the best part? He got it. He loved it. And when he saw that his podcast cover had Biggie’s Greatest Hits vinyl in it? Let’s just say that was a moment.

And speaking of Biggie, Paul told the coolest story about being a young guy and seeing Lil’ Kim and Biggie Smalls drive past him in the street. But that's a story for another day.

This whole thing was a reminder that inspiration can come from anywhere. A conversation. A comment. A moment from the past that finds its way into the future.
